Love fosters relationships into a bond of attachments. The hormone that is primary in the human body that helps promote love and trust is oxytocin.
It is released when the mother needs to go through labour to bring offspring into this world or when she needs to lactate to nourish her infant. Oxytocin also converts attraction to attachment between friends and partners. That is the reason why this hormone is needed for social interaction.
A research study at University of Ohio found that optimal levels of oxytocin are not there in children with autism and that is the reason why the eye contact to social interaction of the children is poor. Any mother with a child with autism spectrum disorder would agree that their children understand when they are in a dull, depressed or a sullen mood and they hang around them to soothe them without saying as much. It is just that they are unable to express their feelings even if they have understood the mother’s emotions.
It is also understood that melatonin when produced enough by the pituitary gland which is also the seat of release of oxytocin helps improve the levels.
Homeopathic medicine stands a great help in the clinical parlance where a child ‘detoxed’ with our remedies finds better eye contact and over a period of time good improvement in social interactions. Depending on the case, age of the child and severity of the spectrum do matter of course.
