There has been a sudden spurt of cases of respiratory illnesses in China for the past couple of weeks and does it mean that we need to be worried?
Is it like the early days of the Wuhan virus when the country had a similar spike?
Would that mean; there is likelihood of spillage of such cases across to our country?
Also more children seem to be affected there than the elders. How about the children of our country.
There is an increase in the number of illnesses of the cold and cough in China; sure. But as such the probable organism seems to be the usual adenovirus or mycoplasma variety as of today. So these are the usual agents that cause infections during winters; which means that is not a cause of concern.
In a way there was a huge lockdown in China during the spurt of Omicron phase and many remained unaffected. This is the first winter after the event and that could be the reason why the unaffected are so prone to it now.
Having said that, even in our country, this winter there is an increase in the number of respiratory illnesses, they are no way in comparison to China and the usual bacteria and viruses only are causing the infection.
So there is no cause for concern as far as fear of a pandemic is concerned.
While we recommend that you follow measures to reduce the risk of respiratory illness, which include keeping distance from people who are ill, staying home when ill, wearing mask as appropriate, ensuring good ventilation , regular hand washing, eating healthy and staying hydrated.
Needless to say, homeopathy would be the best for such infections
